Does your low carb diet have your craving French fries? Turnip fries make a surprisingly tasty alternative, and they’re easy to make. Each medium sized turnip has about 8g of carbs. So that makes a fist full of these fries pretty low carb!
Simply buy some turnips, season them up and toss them in the oven! I haven’t been able to get them to have the same texture as French fries, but the flavor is pretty close. Check out the video below for full instructions!

Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs turnips, or about 2 – 3 turnips
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons powdered garlic
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions
- Pre heat your oven to 450 degrees.
- Slice the turnips in to about half inch thick slices.
- Toss the sliced turnips in the olive oil, powdered garlic salt and pepper.
- Evenly spread the turnip pieces on to a backing sheet without over crowding them.
- Bake for 15 min. Let rest for at least 5 min. or until cool enough to eat1
- Enjoy with a nice aioli!
